Lynn G. McCollum; May 28, 2012

Lynn G. McCollum, 65, of Madison passed away Monday May 28, 2012 at Madison Hospital.

Mr. McCollum was born September 28, 1946 in Lineville, to Jake and Sarah Gaither McCollum. He was a graduate of Lineville High School and a 1968 graduate of The University of Alabama. Mr. McCollum was a State Youth Championship Soccer Coach, he had served as President of the Madison Optimist Club, and Lt. Governor of the Alabama Optimist, he served in the Alabama National Guard, he had a 42 year engineering career with 15 years at GTE followed by time with Intergraph, SCI, Benchmark and DRS.

He is preceded in by his parents.

Survivors are his wife of 42 years Ruth McCollum; two sons Stephen McCollum of Huntsville and David McCollum of Madison; brothers James McCollum of Jonesboro, Ga. and Mark McCollum of Salem, S.C.; and sister Rosemary Armstrong of Lithonia, Ga.

A memorial service was Thursday May 31, at 4 p.m. at Madison Chapel Funeral Home with Bryan Sesson officiating. There was a visitation from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.
