Theda Jeanne Samies; May 23, 2012

Theda Jeanne B. Samies,83, of Madison passed away Wednesday, May 23 in Orangeburg, S.C., where she had been a resident for the past several months.

Mrs. Samies grew up in Forty Fort, Penn. attended high school at Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, Penn., and graduated from St. Lawrence University in New York with a degree in biology. She worked at the Kirby Health Center until her marriage to John Samies. They lived in Bloomsburg, Penn. prior to moving to Madison in 1994.

Mrs. Samies was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a former member of two chapters of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, a member of the Asbury Sew ‘n Tell quilting group, a former member of Danjo Wheelers square dancing group and of various choirs.

Her husband of 46 years preceded her death. She is survived by one son, Dr. John Saimes, his wife and four children of Orangeburg, SC and one daughter Linda Lyons, her husband and son of Madison.

Visitation was Monday, May 28, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Chapel service was at 7 p.m. Graveside service followed Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Boy Scouts of America.
