Sgt. Debra M. Cantrell; Sept. 12, 2012

Sgt. Debra M. Cantrell, 57, of Madison passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at her residence.

Sgt. Cantrell was retired from the U. S. Army where she served in many areas mostly in Germany. She was a true American patriot. Member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Eastern Star, she was born October 28, 1954 in Kansas to Art D. and Emma Owens Phelps.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother Arthur Phelps of Madison and one niece Ashley Phelps of Madison; cousins Lennon & Betty Thomas, Russell and Kelle Thomas and their children Katie and Ryan, Kevin and Allison Thomas; Kay and Joseph Dixon and their children Emma Jewel, Simon and Evy; Gloria Ann Owens; Philip Owens; Patsy Owens and Shirlie Owens.

Funeral service was Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. Madison Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Bert Breland officiating followed by a burial with Military Honors at Madison City Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
