Police, FBI make five arrests in human trafficking case in Madison

After receiving a tip about a human trafficking case from the FBI on Thursday, Madison police discovered a 15-year-old girl from Memphis, Tenn. at the Motel 6 on Madison Boulevard.

The tip from the FBI originated from the National Human Trafficking Resource Center.

Madison police detectives, the FBI, and members of the Madison County narcotics unit set up surveillance on the motel and identified what appeared to be prostitution activities taking place.

A search warrant was served on three rooms at the motel and the female juvenile was located and identified with matching information from the tip.

Five individuals were identified as assisting in the prostitution of the juvenile and were charged with human trafficking in the first degree. Those individuals are Michael Taylor, 25; Alexander Blackmon, 23; Javoris Glasper, 21; Keshuna Williams, 20; and Ashley Patton, 19. All five are Memphis residents.

They were taken to the Madison County Jail on a $50,000 bond. The investigation with local and federal authorities continues and additional charges may be pending.

The 15-year-old girl is currently in the care of the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
