Community yard sale, golf tournament to benefit American Cancer Society

MADISON – The Madison Community Yard Sale will be held on June 29 in the Discovery Middle School parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon.

“Anyone is welcome to bring their goods, clothes, furniture and so forth to sell,” coordinator Leigh Christian said. “If you’re trying to raise funds for other activities or just want to participate, we welcome you.”

Organizers do request participants to donate to Relay for Life. “Relay for Life supports the American Cancer Society (ACS),” Christian said. “One hundred years ago, the American Cancer Society started the fight of a lifetime. Together, we can finish that fight. Let’s boldly join together to make this cancer’s last century.”

For yard sale details, call Christian at 256-509-1580 or email to leighchristian1@gmail.com. “Please join us in the fight … and the fun and raise some funds for great causes,” she said.

In other ACS activities, the 2013 Madison County Golf Tournament will be held on July 15 at Valley Hill Country Club. The tournament will feature scramble format. Lunch will be provided to entrants, who will be eligible for prizes and contests.

Fees for a single patron are $150; hole sponsorship signs, $250; four-player team, $600; Eagle Package with a four-player team and hole sponsor sign; and Master’s Package for four-player team, sign, eight mulligans, four power drives and eight drink tickets, $1,000.

Three slots for tournament event sponsor are open for $2,500. The package includes two complimentary four-player teams, recognition plaque, hole sign, company banner display and more.
