The Crafty Behr provides marketplace for crafters, artisans

MADISON – The Crafty Behr is a crafter’s marketplace, open seven days a week, as an indoor crafts show.

“The Crafty Behr is not an antique mall, although some vendors have antiques,” owner Donna Behr said. “The more unique the better, vendors’ styles are as unique as each individual.”

The Crafty Behr’s address is 7445 U.S. 72 W. in the Beasley Center, one mile east of Nance Road.

Behr, a crafter for 30 years, wanted to help “home crafters turn their passion into profit.” She also takes pride in having a venue for shoppers to buy goods within their local community.

The Crafty Behr now has 25 vendors and space for about 50 more. “Artists, crafters and miscellaneous vendors can sell their goods without being present … all at affordable rates,” Behr said.

Vendors are Suzanne’s Handmade Jewelry, Southpaw Creations, Mary Lake Photography, Ethereal Expressions, Dirt Road Blessings, Patricia Simpson’s Handcrafted Cards, artists Pat Eldridge and Jackie Miller, Perri Goins Glassware, L&L Design, Clean Heart Candles, CFA Enterprise, Ellexus & Dawn Crochet, The Painting Pirates, Bobbylee’s Jewelry, Oh Jodi’s soaps, Vamped Up Vintage, Fabulous Finds, Antique Owls and Tammy’s baby items.

Shoppers can browse soaps, lotions, candles, collegiate items, jewelry, monogramming, photography, re-purposed and resale items, wreaths and home decor.

Behr’s oldest son Paul Micheletto works as general manager. “I relocated to Alabama seven years ago from Illinois,” Behr said. “I love living in Madison and realize the potential opportunities due to the city’s growth.”

Her husband Carl works as a senior systems analyst at Northrop Grumman. Their adult children are Paul, Nick, Lindsey and Andrea, along with Alex, a West Madison Elementary School student, and Tommy and Avery, Bob Jones High School students.

Hours are Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

The Crafty Behr’s grand opening will be held Oct. 26 with prizes and refreshments from noon to 4 p.m.
