Mr. John Ben Cobb
April 17, 1926 – November 10, 2013

John B. Cobb, 87, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Bell Cobb. Mr. Cobb is survived by his three children, Ronald Cobb and wife Sandra of Marietta, Georgia, Gerald Cobb and wife Susan of Ardmore, Alabama, and Kathy Cobb Bracey and husband Bill of Burgaw, North Carolina, three granddaughters, Mallory Cobb Marquart of Alpharetta, Georgia, Darcy Cobb of Marietta, Georgia, and Whitley Cobb, and grandson Tyler Cobb, both of Ardmore, Alabama, and two sisters, Betty Meaker of Winchester, Tennessee and Nancy Summers of Huntsville, Alabama.

Mr. Cobb served his country with distinction in the United States Navy during World War II, from 1943-1946, in the South Pacific. He went to work for the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal and was at the center of the “space race” of the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s. John was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a great fisherman, a superb gardener, an avid reader, and a supporter of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a member of Grace Bible Church and served as a volunteer for a number of service organizations following his retirement.

Services for Mr. Cobb were held on Friday, November 15, 2013 in the Spry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Maple Hill Cemetery.
