HUNTSVILLE – The 41st annual Crescen-Dough Auction, “The Magic of Music,” is set for April 4. The event benefits Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.

“Crescen-Dough will be an exciting night. We encourage everyone to attend and bid on items to help raise money that will directly support our symphony,” event chairman Cara Greco said.

The event venue is the Von Braun Center North Hall. Debbie Washburn is co-chairman.

Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild sponsors Crescen-Dough. Guild members from Madison are president Donna Rush, Pat Cross, Elizabeth Herrin, Carole Jones, Darla Malueg, Karen Morris, Marie Newberry, Debbie Overcash, Dianne Reynolds and Mary Withington.

“Crescen-Dough is one of the area’s favorite evenings of fun and entertainment,” Greco said. “This is one of the largest auctions attended every year with more than 600 in attendance.”

The event opens at 6 p.m. with silent auction bids on 500-plus items, including art, jewelry, home goods, gift certificates and outstanding deals that local merchants have donated.

“The live part of the auction contains trips, one-of-a-kind parties, beautiful fine jewelry and art,” Greco said. Kevin LePrince of Charleston, S.C. created a special violin sculpture. “2Cellos, the worldwide music sensation, painted a cello to be auctioned off.”

The buffet dinner will feature smoked chicken with white barbecue sauce, beef brisket, roasted potatoes, green beans, rolls and salad. Dessert options include apple dumpling and banana pudding. A full, cash bar will be open.

The buffet “keeps the night casual. People are free to eat, mingle and shop at their leisure,” Greco said. “Complimentary champagne will be offered for a limited time at check-in.”

Keeping the “Magic in Music” theme, tabletops decorations will be bright and bold, like the event logo. “We’ll have magic hats with a spray of colorful ribbons, streamers and stars shooting out,” Greco said.

During 51 years of service, the guild has raised more than $6.3 million, half by Crescen-Dough.

Tickets are available by calling 256-539-4818, online at crescendoughauction.com or mailing a reservation card. For more information, visit Facebook/Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild.
