MADISON – Calhoun Community College student Savannah McCullough of Madison recently was named a 2014 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Scholar.

She will receive a $1,500 scholarship and gold medallion.

Students named Coca-Cola scholars were selected from the more than 1,700 applications submitted this year. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation funds the scholarships.

A mathematics major, McCullough reached a 4.0 GPA. She serves as a Calhoun Warhawk student ambassador and is active in Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta honor societies.

McCullough was one of four nominees the 2014 All-USA Academic Team. She serves her community through volunteering for the American Red Cross and serving as a Top Soccer peer coach.

Her goal is to obtain her doctorate degree and work as a college math professor. McCullough would like to empower females to seek out careers in math, science and technology-related fields.
