Animals, history and future forecasts all part of Ardmore library’s summer

ARDMORE – Summer programs at Ardmore Public Library are offering enrichment and entertainment to all age groups with shows featuring magic, zoo animals and historical vignettes.
“Fizz, Boom, Read!,” the 2014 summer reading program, is open to children up to 11 years old. The activities are held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
On June 25, the youngsters will have a chance to meet animals from the Nashville Zoo. On July 2, puppeteer Jill Thatcher will entertain with her puppet friends. Bruce Almato will wow the kids with his magic show on July 9.
The teen summer reading program for 2014, “Spark a Reaction,” is open to 12- through 16-year-olds. Leslie Donnelly sponsors the program.
The teenagers will discuss computer hackers and online safety at a session on June 27 at 1 p.m. Then on July 11 at 1 p.m., the session “Physics of the Future … Will Cars Fly?” will be held.
For a craft class aimed at adults, Jan Mitchell will present a scrapbooking session on July 3 at 1 p.m. Participants should bring a binder or notebook, non-PDC pages and about a dozen photographs. These supplies are available at discount stores.
The library will provide other materials, like scissors and stickers. “Jan will also be talking about the best way to set up a photo when taking it,” Collin said. The session is free.
The “Seniors @ the Library” organization will meet during summer on Thursdays at 1 p.m. “This group loves Domino’s and Pizza Inn desserts,” librarian spokesperson Verlin Collins said.
On June 19, the library will host “Charles Berry’s Ardmore Memories in Photo.” On July 24, retired postmaster R.C. Powers will present “Ardmore Post Office — 100 Years.”
