HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau have recently teamed up with several area officials, including the office of Madison Mayor Troy Trulock, to again offer Huntsville Restaurant Week.
The week, actually lasting a total of 10 days from Aug. 14-23, will feature more than 50 eateries in Madison County participating in various ways.
“Lunch specials include fixed-price selections at $5, $10 or $15 featuring two courses,” a press release announcing the event stated. “Dinner specials include selections at $10, $20 or $30 and feature three courses. Restaurants may choose to offer any combination of the above specials.”
Five restaurants in the city of Madison are offering Restaurant Week specials: Cork & Crust, Lawler’s Barbecue, Sady’s Bistro, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café and Whistle Stop Sweet Shop.
“Madison is proud to have restaurants participating again this year,” Trulock said in the press release. “This is a perfect opportunity to promote our locally owned and operated restaurants, as well as for our citizens to try something new. Thanks to our Convention and Visitors Bureau for putting together this great event.”
From Aug. 10-14, the Visitors Center located in downtown Huntsville will offer free barbecue samples from area restaurants. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center will offer its regular Biergarten event on Aug. 13 from 4:30-7:30, and Downtown Huntsville, Inc. will put on a street food gathering on Aug. 21. Those events are one of nine special events to be featured during Huntsville Restaurant Week.
The 10-day celebration of food also encourages social media users to get in on the action. Participants are asked to use the official hashtag of the event, #DineHsv, to Tweet about their favorite part of restaurant week. One winner each day will be given a gift certificate to restaurants participating in Huntsville Restaurant Week.
The effort is also aiming to gain attention to out-of-town guests visiting the area.
“Exceptional, local and unique dining experiences is one of the top reason people travel,” Judy Ryals, president/CEO of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, stated in the press release.
