MADISON – The hardware keeps piling up for the James Clemens High School track program.

The Jets put together a dominating performance Saturday to open the outdoor season, setting 10 meet and school records and seeing 65 athletes score as they swept both the boys and girls division at the 10-team Early Bird Battle Royal Track Meet hosted by James Clemens.

The Jets girls and boys, who have respectively landed 122 and 123 trophies in four years, have never lost a home meet. They easily out-distanced cross town rival Bob Jones, which was second in both divisions.

In the girls meet, James Clemens piled up 203 points, followed by Bob Jones (96), Huntsville (87), Randolph (76) and Arab (61).

For the boys, James Clemens scored 182.5, followed by Bob Jones (115), Randolph (83.5), Huntsville (73.5) and Sparkman (68).

Mississippi State signee Kayla Williams led the Jets with first-place finishes in the long jump, triple jump, 150-meter race and the 4 x 100 relay. She teamed with Zada Campbell, Vada Samuels and Shataeya Ligon in that event.

Ligon, an eighth-grader, was first in the 80 as was Kennedy Reese in the shot put.

Aaron Beane placed first in the 1,000 and second in the 2,000 and set school records in both events.

Other first-place finishes for the Jets included Zach Hancock in the discus, Korey Shively in the 500 and the 4×100 team of Torolla Walker, Aaron Anderson, Lance Meade and Sterling Fisher.
