Rosalie Holcombe admires Madison’s ‘giving back’

MADISON – Rosalie Holcombe has no doubt about why she likes living in Madison.
“Hands down, I love Madison for the people that live here. Such an outstanding group of individuals that give back daily to better our community,” Holcombe said.
“After living away from Madison and returning, I realized how rich this area is in job opportunities, is family friendly and the housing market is so affordable comparatively,” she said.
Holcombe was born in Birmingham and moved with her family to Madison in 2003. After graduating from Bob Jones High School, she entered the University of Montevallo and earned a bachelor’s degree in fine art.
“I received a scholarship to attend the University of Montevallo and was awarded as the top student in the sculpture concentration during my senior year,” Holcombe said. The favorite piece of artwork that she created is a steel, public sculpture of a frog, standing at 11 feet tall, that resides in the University of Montevallo’s Ebenezer Research Swamp.
Not surprisingly because of her talent in visual arts, she enjoys attending art festivals in the area, along with going to concerts. “I am very excited for the new season of Madison Gazebo Concerts starting in June,” Holcombe said.
She works as a Realtor with Keller Williams Madison.
“At the age of 19, I acquired my black lab mix, Max. He is a big fan of cheese, rolling in the grass and is distracted by bumblebees,” Holcombe said. Her restaurant picks are Taziki’s Mediterrean Cafe, Main Street Cafe and “of course, I’ve got to grab a Pimento Cheese Burger at Old Black Bear.”
“You can usually find me listening to the Alabama Shakes or Tedeschi Trucks Band,” she said. Holcombe has several favorite artists, but “two that seem similar that I enjoy are the works of Keith Haring and currently active artist Stephen Powers.”
Along with her family and friends, Holcombe volunteers with Madison Street Festival. “I recently joined Big Brothers Big Sisters and have an incredible young lady to mentor,” Holcombe said. This year, Holcombe will participate in Art 4 Paws.
Rosalie’s parents are Tim and Sharon Holcombe, and her brother Daniel lives in Atlanta.
