MADISON – The U.S. India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) has announced its support of Hanu Karlapalem in the race for mayor of Madison.

This endorsement “places Karlapalem amongst the company of many other well-respected and notable elected officials,” campaign manager Rebecca Lee said.

Lee cited other candidates that the PAC has supported, including Nikki Haley, Governor of South Carolina; Kamala Harris, California Attorney General and leading candidate for U.S. Senate; Tulsi Gabbard, U.S. House of Representatives from Hawaii; and former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.

“I am not only grateful to have so many supporters here in Madison, but also humbled to receive the tremendous honor of USINPAC’s support,” Karlapalem said.

Karlapalem and his wife Vidya have been residents of Madison for more than 16 years. Hanu announced his candidacy for mayor in January.

Karlapalem’s mission is to provide the City of Madison with “VALUE,” which abbreviates Vision, Accountability, Leadership, Unity, Ethics.

Karlapalem has compiled about 30 years of work and entrepreneurial experience with businesses, engineering, information technology and non-profit organizations. He is founder & CEO of Vinhamz Inc., a small business providing network solution services.

Hanu earned a master’s degree in management information systems from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. His career began as a shift engineer at a steel pipe manufacturing plant.

The U.S. India Political Action Committee is the voice of more than 3.2 million Indian-Americans. Founded in 2002, the organization is a non-partisan PAC that supports candidates for local, state and federal office and encourages political participation by the Indian-American community.
