HUNTSVILLE – Gov. Robert Bentley has named Peyton McNully, Technology Director for HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, to the Alabama Supercomputer Authority’s Board of Directors.
Founded in 1989, Alabama Supercomputer Authority is a state-funded corporation for the purpose of planning, acquiring, developing, administering and operating a statewide supercomputer and related telecommunication systems.
In his role, McNully joins other chief information officers statewide to provide expert advice and recommendations to the organization.
McNully has been in his current role at HudsonAlpha two years. He has led technology strategy for HudsonAlpha and an additional 30-plus companies located on the institute’s campus in Huntsville.
McNully is a combat veteran with two tours of duty and 10 years of service as a military intelligence noncommissioned officer supporting elements of U.S. Special Operations Command.
“Our ability to translate large amounts of data as fast as possible is crucial to HudsonAlpha’s work in DNA sequencing. The faster we can do that, the faster we can provide answers to patients,” McNully said. “I am honored that Gov. Bentley and the State of Alabama has entrusted me with this position.”
