MADISON – On March 25, Madison will be buzzing with three exciting events that are free to attend and promise to entertain the family.

James Clemens High School will host the MadCity GreenpowerUSA Electric Vehicle Race, MadCity Car Show and Madison City Kite Festival.

“On March 25 at James Clemens, we’re having several events associated with Madison City Schools that are available free to the community,” Jessye G. Gaines said. Gaines is Engineering Academy Director and PATRIOT Racing sponsor at Bob Jones High School.

“We need all possible volunteers,” Gaines said. To volunteer, sign up at https://tinyurl.com/hrvjcrz.

The second annual MadCity GreenpowerUSA Electric Vehicle Race will run from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Madison City School is partnering with GreenpowerUSA to present the race.

The race’s teams will set up in pits at 8 a.m., followed by a pre-race safety meeting at 8:30 a.m. The Goblin Race will start at 9 a.m. The 90-minute intermediate race will open at 1 p.m., and the advanced race, also 90 minutes long, will blast away at 3:15 p.m.

The awards ceremony for the MadCity race is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The second annual MadCity Car Show will open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Pre-registration is desired, and the show will have a limit of 100 cars. Visit http://tinyurl.com/hx4alzh.

The show is open to all makes and models. Entry fee is $20 or $10 for students. The Students’ Choice cash award is up for grabs. Door prizes will include car washes, car wash kit, oil changes, oil change kit and other items.

Show sponsors are O’Reilly Auto Parts, Madison One-Day Auto Spa and Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers.

RUFF, or Ready Yourself For the Future, is teaming up with MCS and GreenpowerUSA to present the second annual “Rise Above: Madison City Kite Festival.” Kite Festival hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to the fun and thrills of the events, the activities also will include kite flying, children’s amusements, entertainment, flight simulators, STEM demonstrations, vendor booths and food trucks.
