Suspects arrested in robbery, ramming police car
MADISON – Police officers from both the Madison and Huntsville departments have arrested suspects in recent crimes occurring in the City of Madison.
On May 8 at approximately 9 a.m., Madison Police Department received a Robbery in Progress call from North Alabama Educators Credit Union at 7559 U.S. 72. Nearby schools were placed in lockdown as a precautionary measure. Police found no indication that anyone tried to enter the schools. Additional Special Resource Officers reported to the adjacent schools.
Bank employees advised that a black male had robbed a teller and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Madison police officers responded immediately and canvassed the area, but the officers could not locate the alleged offender.
During the course of the investigation, detectives learned the bank had camera footage of the offender. The suspect was a black male, six feet tall, thin build and with a beard; he was wearing a gray hoodie and gray sweat pants.
Officers circulated this information to the media for possible identification. A concerned citizen later recognized the offender as Jamal Rashad Glover of Huntsville.
Officers obtained and secured a warrant for the arrest of Glover on charges of Robbery 1st. On May 10, officers with Huntsville Police Department stopped and arrested Jamal Rashad Glover, who was booked into Madison County Jail and held on a bond amount of $60,000.
Another incident occurred on May 5 at approximately 9:45 a.m. An on-duty Madison police officer was travelling south on Hughes Road when another motorist deliberately struck the officer’s marked police car. The suspect made an obscene gesture toward the officer and attempted to flee but was apprehended soon afterwards.
On-scene investigation revealed that the offender intentionally targeted the police vehicle. The Madison police officer was treated for injuries and released.
Joshua Kevin Lesch, 18, Huntsville, was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Reckless Driving, and Fleeing or Attempting to Allude charges. He was booked into Madison County Jail with a bond of $33,000. No further information will be released at this time.
