Dupree wins state honors, learns self-discipline in wrestling

MADISON – After playing many sports during his life, Seth Dupree has decided to focus on wrestling.

Dupree, a senior at Bob Jones High School, qualified for state competition in the 195-pound weight class. He earned third-place honors in the 220-pound weight class for Bob Jones.

This summer, he wrestled for Team Alabama Yellowhammer. “Wrestling has taught me a lot about self-discipline and what it takes to be successful, both on and off the mat,” Dupree said. “I hope to continue to wrestle at the next level.”

Although he enjoys several sports, he prefers “sports that are physical and ones that the player dictates playing time. If I win, I keep going. If I lose, I learn from it,” Dupree said.

At Bob Jones, Dupree also participates with Spanish Club and Patriot Paws.

His older brothers are Collin, a senior baseball player at University of Montevallo, and Ryan, a junior at Mississippi State University. “My dad Anthony works for the government, and my mom Peggy is a math teacher at Bob Jones and the University of Alabama in Huntsville,” Seth said.

Seth is a lifelong resident of Madison. His parents relocated here for their jobs.
