Free gardening workshops planned at Dublin in February

MADISON – Have the cloud-covered skies and icy wind caused a case of the winter blues? A workshop about spring planting and backyard gardens may be the best dose of medicine.

“Take some time at lunch to bask in the glow of garden education. Coming this February, the Master Gardeners of North Alabama will present their annual Lunch ‘n’ Learn Workshops on a variety of garden themes,” gardener spokesperson Nareatha Studdard said.

The Lunch ‘n’ Learn Workshops will be held on Tuesdays in February from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class venue is Dublin Park at 8324 Old Madison Pike in Madison.

On Feb. 5, presenters Pam Price & Doty Henry will discuss “Herbs Gone Wild: Flavoring Without Salt.” Bonnie Gardner will disclose helpful tips for “Backyard Vegetable Gardening” on Feb. 12.

On Feb. 19, Rhonda Britton with Madison County Cooperative Extension will explain procedures for “Garden Tools.” The last workshop on Feb. 26 will feature ideas for “Container Gardening” with Russel Houser from Earth Touch.

The public is invited. “Feel free to bring your lunch and delight in learning something new. Know that spring planting is just around the corner,” Studdard said.

Master Gardeners of North Alabama is collaborating with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System to present these workshops.

The workshops are free, but seating is limited. Participants should register online by visiting mginfo.org/workshops.

Master Gardeners of North Alabama Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization supported and funded by membership dues, donations and fundraising efforts. The group is an active member of Alabama Master Gardener Association and a fully qualified 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
