Madison Schools Perform Well In Annual Invitational Track Meet

MADISON- The 2019 James Clemens Invitational Track Meet was a double whammy for Madison City Schools as the host Jets won the girls’ division while the boys’ division was captured by Bob Jones.

The sixth annual event featured 29 schools, including two from the state of Tennessee, with more than 1,200 athletes, and was the largest track event ever held in Madison.

In girl’s action, James Clemens senior Ashlee Osaji was the big individual winner winning three events to lead the Lady Jets to the team title and extending the program’s undefeated home record in seven years of competition. The Southern Mississippi signee took gold medals in the 100 and 200-meter races and the triple jump, each of which were meet records. Fellow teammates Kristin Day (1,600 and 3,200-meter), Kiara Fisher (high jump) and Sylvia Cortes (800-meter) also saw their performances set new meet records.

In boys, Bob Jones was the team winner with four place winners.

Team scores were: Boys: 1. Bob Jones (80), 2. James Clemens (76), 8. Sparkman (37); Girls: 1. James Clemens (170.50), 2. Sparkman (68), 4. Bob Jones (67).
