Jets And Patriots Take North Alabama Jr. High Track Championships

MADISON- The future of the high school track programs in the two high schools within Madison are in good hands as each school took home a championship trophy at the 2019 North Alabama Junior High Track & Field Championships. James Clemens won the boy’s division and Bob Jones captured the girl’s division.

Overall team scores in boys, the Jets scored 125 points to win the North Alabama title for the fifth time in the last seven years while Bob Jones was third at 59.50 and Sparkman fifth with 37.50. In girls, the Lady Patriots scored 64 points to edge James Clemens which scored 51 and Sparkman third at 44 points.

James Clemens was led in the boy’s division by Chad Coulter who took gold in both the 100 and 200-meter sprints. The Jets also claimed all three medals by sweeping the long jump with Tyrik Walker, Mike Osaji and Keenan Walker finishing first to third respectively.

Bryan Preer, James Clemens, 18.07; 4×100- 1. James Clemens, 45.53 (Olumayowa Ayileka, Keenan Walker, David Ross, Tyrik Walker), 3. Sparkman, 45.83; 4×400- 2. Bob Jones, 3:48.15 (Mateo Santiago, James Garrison, Ryan Bender, Jordan Morrison), 3. James Clemens, 3:50.91 (Olumayowa Ayileka, Pierce Roper, Isaul Rubio-Montano, David Ross); high jump- 1. Keenan Walker, James Clemens, 5-foot-10 inches, 3. Mike Osaji, James Clemens, 5-06; long jump- 1. Tyrik Walker, James Clemens, 21-00.15, 2. Mike Osaji, James Clemens, 20-04.50, 3. Keenan Walker, James Clemens, 19-01.00; shot put- 2. Amari Hassen, Bob Jones, 44-04.25; discus- 1. Terrant Young, Sparkman, 136-07.
