City coin presented to Taylor Edge for his impact on the lives of young people

MADISON – Helping to mold and develop young people into adults is what Taylor Edge takes pride in. The former city administrator for Madison has been encouraging young men and women in various ways at Bob Jones High School and UAH for years.

Last week, Edge was honored by the Madison City Council for the impact he has made on countless lives while simply doing what we loves most — showing the love to others that God has shown him.

Edge was presented with a city coin, an initiative started in Nov. 2918 to honor citizens of Madison who have made outstanding contributions to the city. Previous recipients include longtime Madison residents BeBe Oetjen, Jack Clift, Don Spencer and MCS superintendent Robby Parker.

Edge has served alongside his friend Mayor Paul Finley in two stints as his executive assistant, helping to shape the city in its greatest period of growth, and he has been heavily involved in the sports programs at Bob Jones as a mentor and golf coach.

Today, Edge is the character coach for the UAH men’s basketball program where he continues to encourage and mentor young people. He has also authored a book earlier this year, “More Than A Believer”.

Councilman John Seifert presented the coin to Edge. “We are honoring Taylor’s involvement in the community, particularly with the young people within our schools,” Seifert said before directing his comments toward Edge. “Through your involvement with Bob Jones sports and the shaping you have done for the young men and women in our schools, you don’t know the full impact you have had yet. Just bringing God’s word into those lives and showing them that we are better with Him than without Him has made a huge impact on their lives. I can’t think of a better person to give this coin to.”

“I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate it. For me to be recognized is very humbling,” Edge said after being presented the coin. “It’s a pleasure and an honor and just a joy to serve the Lord for the young people in this city. I will cherish this coin for the rest of my life.”
