Cool rides, food trucks set for Bob Jones Band Car Show

MADISON – Car enthusiasts can admire some of the best models on the road (or stored in garages to keep their pristine condition) at the Bob Jones Band Car Show and Food Truck Rally.

Set for evening hours, the show on Aug. 24 will run from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on campus at Bob Jones High School, 650 Hughes Road. Cars will be on display in the school’s north parking lot along Eastview Drive.

Entry fee for all cars is $20. Presentation of awards will be based on Section Leader favorites, with up to 12 awards. Car show participants will receive giveaways.

Organizers are accepting vendors to sell or exhibit their merchandise for this event. For individuals who are interested in having a booth, email Rhonda.lyons13@gmail.com.

Food trucks will offer tasty sandwiches, other carnival food and beverages.

Sponsors who are supporting the car show to help Bob Jones Band include (as of July 7) Fire & Ice Tex-Mex Food Truck, The Steakhouse Food Truck and Joe’s World Famous Pizzeria/Stone Fired Artisan Pizzas.

Rain date for the car show will be Aug. 31. For more information, visit https://www.bjhsband.com/carshow.

The 2018 Bob Jones Competition Band delivered an impressive finale for their 2018 season at the Alabama State Marching Championship. Bob Jones drum majors were ranked as “Best in Class.” The entire show and drills by Bob Jones Band ranked third place overall at the state championship.

To prepare for their 2019 marching season, the instrumentalists, Color Guard and dance ensemble will report to band camp on campus on July 15-19, July 22-26 and July 29-30 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Leigh Thomas is Director of Bands at Bob Jones. Kevin Smartt works as assistant director.
