UAH cruises to 3-0 win over Union on Saturday

HUNTSVILLE – UAH volleyball teammates from Madison schools helped their team cruised to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-22, 25-18) over visiting Union on Saturday afternoon in a Gulf South Conference matchup at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH improves to 8-5 (2-1 GSC), while UU slips to 8-5 (2-1 GSC).

Union evened the second set late at 21-21, but UAH turned in four of the final five points for the 25-22 win in the second to increase the match lead to 2-0 on the way to the three-set victory on Saturday.

Madison Academy grad Abby Brooks registered UAH’s lone double-double in the contest with a team-high 11 kills on a .323 hitting percentage to go along with 10 digs. Brooks now has four double-doubles with kills and digs in 2019.

Isabelle Barnes, a former Bob Jones Patriot, and Molly Presnell both posted nine kills against Union, with Barnes proving a .474 hitting percentage.

Katie Sharp, a James Clemens graduate, added a team-high 27 assists to go along with one service ace and six digs.

Ali Lowe rated fourth on the squad with eight kills while notching a team-high .500 hitting percentage.
Lowe and Barnes tied for the team lead in total blocks with three each.

Shayla Libby paced the defense with 19 digs and also added two service aces.

Kennedy Sellers owned a team-high three service aces and rated second on the squad with nine digs.

UAH owned a team .274 hitting percentage, while limiting UU to a .229 swing rate as a team.
The Chargers had the most attacking success in the opening frame with a match-high .313 hitting percentage.

UAH compiled 10 service aces as a team, with the Bulldogs accumulating just one.

The Chargers have posted 10 or more service aces in four matches this season.
