Brady serving as bishop with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

MADISON – John Brady of Madison has accepted the call to serve as a bishop for the Madison 3rd Ward, one of four Madison congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Brady comes into this role with years of church leadership experience. Previously, he has served in numerous volunteer positions in the church, including Stake High Councilor, Elders Quorum President, Executive Secretary and Sunday School President. In addition, Brady served a two-year mission as a youth in Santiago, Chile.

Bishop Brady, who is 47 years old, has lived in Madison for 7.5 years. He and his wife Jami Bott Brady have three daughters. He works as a research scientist at Dynetics Inc.

Brady’s favorite scripture is John 3:16-17. “This scripture tells us of God’s great love for us, shows us that we must be followers of Christ, and teaches us that we must seek to bless rather than condemn if we are to be like Him and live with Him,” Brady said.

Sam Izatt, 41, and Ed Sanchez, 49, are serving as counselors with Bishop Brady to form the bishopric.

Izatt, his wife Mariann and their four children have lived in Madison for 11 years. He works as an EVMS Manager at Dynetics Inc.

Sanchez and his wife Annette have been married for 31 years. Their oldest three children live in Utah and New Mexico, and their youngest child will graduate from high school in May. Sanchez works as a Material Program Manager with Aerojet Rocketdyne.

Bishoprics, along with all leaders and teachers for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, work and serve without pay. A bishop’s main responsibility is to assist the members in their spiritual and temporal welfare. The bishop ministers to members in their efforts to become true disciples of Jesus Christ.

Visitors are welcome to Sunday services at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 1297 Slaughter Road in Madison.
