AEROTOW 2021 returns for North Alabama Radio Control Association

HARVEST – After a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the North Alabama Radio Control Association or NARCA are excited to present their annual event for radio-control gliders, AEROTOW 2021.

“In the past, we have had pilots from far away as Georgia, Texas, Florida and Illinois, along with large contingents from local radio-control glider modelers,” NARCA Publicist Cliff Lanham said. “This year’s aerotow event will be held Oct. 8-10, and events will include towed gliders and self-propelled gliders.”

NARCA will host sailplanes and dedicated tow planes from 50 cc to 170 cc gas.

AEROTOW 21 will be held at the NARCA airfield (Epps Field) on Carroll Road in Harvest. The field is located just off the corner of Carroll Road and Harvest Road.

Spectators and event pilots are welcome to attend. Spectators will not be charged for admission. Concessions will be sold. For attendees in a recreational vehicle (RV), dry camping will be available.

North Alabama Radio Control Association is a club chartered with the Academy of Model Aeronautics or AMA. The club uses a beautiful grass flying site, thanks to the landowner who has flown light aircraft from his private strip for around 40 years. He has hosted the local group of enthusiasts since 1987.

NARCA has approximately 50 members of varying ages. The association’s members also vary in experience, but most have many years of R/C involvement.

Individuals who want to fly a RC glider can call Tim Batt at 256-721-0404 or Cliff Lanham at 256-325-3775. For more information, visit Facebook/NARCA – North Alabama Radio Control Association.
