Jets Will Play For State Championship- James Clemens Boy’s Basketball Team Advances To State Title Game On Saturday

BIRMINGHAM- James Clemens trailed just one time during the game and raced to an 80-66 semi-final victory over No. 1 ranked Baker and advanced to the AHSAA Class 7A Basketball State Championship set for Saturday in Birmingham.

The game was tied after the first quarter, but the Jets led by four at halftime only to come out and outscore Baker 19-10 in quarter number three on their way to their 21st victory on the season and will face Enterprise, 73-58 winners over Spain Park, for the state championship.

Jordan Frazier was the top scorer for James Clemens (21-9) while Keenan Walker added 16, Simon Walker with 14 and John Paul Gilmore with 12. Labaron Philon had 29 for the Hornets (31-3).

“We don’t want to be known as the team that just gets to Birmingham,” said James Clemens head coach Frankie Sullivan. “We want to win this thing.”
