HUNTSVILLE – The UAH women’s basketball team blazed past Valdosta State by a final score of 73-53 in the first home Gulf South Conference game of the season at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Saturday afternoon. UAH improves to 5-1 (2-0 GSC), while VSU slides to 6-2 (1-1 GSC).

This is the first time UAH has started conference play with back-to-back wins since the 2018-19 campaign, as the Blue & White have outscored its GSC opposition 81-38 through two games.

Wilken has now scored 18 or more points in back-to-back games as she pushes her season streak of double-digit scoring to six games.

Millie Brown excelled from beyond the arc for the Blue & White, going 5-for-8 on three-pointers for 15 points on Saturday. Brown is 13-for-22 over the last two games on three-point attempts.

Haley Nichols rated third on the roster with 12 points, followed by Alexis Woods at 11 and Bella White with 10 to round out UAH’s double-digit scorers on Saturday. Overall, UAH shot 51.9 percent (27-52) from the field and 43.8 percent (7-16) on three-pointers, while limiting VSU to 43.4 percent (23-53) on field goals.

UAH dominated on the boards against Valdosta State, outrebounding the Blazers 37-21 for the contest. Bella White led the Chargers with nine rebounds, followed by Nichols and Woods with six boards apiece. White and Nichols additionally led the Chargers with three assists.
