Strong Academy Day coming to Huntsville High School next month

HUNTSVILLE — Congressman Dale W. Strong (AL-05) will be hosting Academy Day on Saturday, August 2 for area students who want to learn more about attending one of the United States service academies after high school.

“The fact that so many student leaders willingly offer themselves to serve our nation in uniform speaks volumes of the patriotism held by our district’s youth. It is my honor to nominate young men and women to attend U.S. service academies and ensure students are aware of the many avenues to military service,” says Representative Dale W. Strong.

This year’s Academy Day will take place on Saturday, Aug, 2, from 10 am – 1 pm at the Huntsville High School Gymnasium.

The event will include academy representatives from West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy, Marion Military Institute; recruiters with the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force/Space Force, and the Coast Guard; and representatives from various ROTC Programs from across the state.

To attend an academy, students must meet certain eligibility requirements and receive a nomination. More information on the nomination process will be provided at the event. Students interested in being nominated are encouraged to attend Strong Academy Day.

WHAT: Strong Academy Day WHEN: Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10 am – 1 pm
