Athletic Hall of Fame accepting nominees for Class of 2026

MADISON – The Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame, which pays tribute to the remarkable people who have shaped the rich sporting culture of the local community, is now accepting nominations for its Class of 2026. The new class of inductees will be inducted in the annual ceremony, presented by Huntsville Hospital Sports and TOC, next April 13 at the Von Braun Center.

The nominations should include detailed information on the nominee’s career, which can include statistics, old record books, scrapbooks and media clippings. The submitted material will not be returned.

To be eligible for nomination, the nominee most meet the following criteria:

• Be current or former resident of Madison County for five continuous years, not counting residency on a military base or college campus

• Be a resident of the county for 10 continuous years if they performed their athletic achievements prior to moving to Madison County

• Be at least 40 years of age at the time of induction

• If a coach or administration, must have a minimum of 30 years of service in athletics if they are not retired Nominations must be mailed to the HMCAHOF at P.O. Box 566, Huntsville, AL 35804. Nominations may also be submitted digitally at www.hmcahof.com. The necessary forms of submitting a nomination are located there. The website also offers additional information and a gallery of Hall of Fame inductees.

More than 20 different sports are represented in the Hall of Fame among the nearly 400 members. Additional inducted members are from the areas of officiating, news media, education and administration. All members include those with Huntsville-Madison County connections who have excelled at the local, state, national and international levels.

The mission of the HMCAHOF is to honor those who have made a significant impact in the world of athletics while celebrating their achievements and inspiring future generations in athletics. The Hall of Fame has a permanent home at John Hunt Park, just west of Memorial Parkway, with a huge monument signifying the location of the Hall of Fame and all of the inductees’ names engraved on brick pavers in a plaza area just in front of the HOF monument.
