Parade, festival and plenty of fireworks in store this week for 4th of July fun

MADISON – This is the week to celebrate the birth of America. As the weekend rolls in, the celebrations begin Thursday for America’s 250th anniversary and continues through Saturday, July 4. Madison and Huntsville are gearing up to have a fun filled weekend.

The city of Madison begins the festivities on Thursday, July 2, with an Independence day parade at 6 p.m. beginning at Heritage Elementary and ending at James Clemens High School. There will be community groups, elected officials, walking and marching groups, floats and more.

On Friday, July 3, Dublin Park will host the “Let Freedom Ring” fireworks show, complete with a patriotic video tribute, vendors and voter registration opportunities.

Bring the whole family out for an evening of Independence Day fun featuring food vendors, live music, inflatables, and a fireworks show to end the night.

All event parking will be at Bob Jones High School, and free shuttle service will be provided to and from Dublin Park throughout the event.

The celebration starts at 5 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m.

In Big Spring Park, the city of Huntsville has brought a parade, vibrant storefronts, live performers and local artists to celebrate the 4th. From 4 to 10 p.m. the park will be filled with people roaming, laughing and enjoying the firework show that is sure to excite and amaze.

Organizers have prepared a schedule packed with activities for all ages: 4 p.m. – Vendor market, food trucks, DJ, historical reenactments and educational experiences 5 p.m. – American Eras Parade, beginning on Monroe Street, sharing a moving storyline of American history 6 p.m. – Live music in the park featuring Groove, followed by Huntsville’s own Jazz McKenzie and her 10-piece band 9 p.m. – A spectacular 25-minute fireworks finale accompanied by the Huntsville Concert Band

Trash Pandas Fireworks

On the Fourth of July, individuals can attend a Rocket City Trash Pandas baseball game at Toyota Field. After the game, a dazzling fireworks show will serve as the evening’s finale.

The Trash Pandas, will host a game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on July 4 at 6:35 p.m. You can find more information at www.trashpandasbaseball. com.

There will be inflatables, yard games, and great food for all. The first 1,000 fans ages 17 and younger get a special treat. Upon arrival a patriotic jersey will be given out.

The team will also be a part of the fun and be wearing special patriotic jerseys which will be auctioned off during the game to help support First Stop, a Huntsville based nonprofit that serves the homeless.

Whether you choose to attend a parade, enjoy a baseball game or gather beneath a fireworks display, there will be no shortage of opportunities for the families of Madison to celebrate. As communities across the nation commemorate 250 years of American history, Madison and Huntsville are offering plenty of ways for local families to come together and enjoy the holiday weekend.
