Girl Scouts looking for volunteers

The Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama are seeking volunteers, especially in the Madison area, for many programs in the organization.

The scouts have many types of volunteer opportunities that involve direct or indirect interaction with girls, such as a troop leader or even an adventure specialist. There are also opportunities to volunteer at one of our five offices or at one of the six campsites and some work with product sales.

One leader says what she likes most is working with the girls and the friendships with other leaders.

Adult volunteers are especially needed to conduct programs in the following areas: Headstart programs, afterschool troops in public schools and local Boys and Girl Clubs, troop leaders and assistant leaders, and troop mentors.

Becoming a volunteer is easy and training is provided-most at no cost to the volunteer. For more information, visit the Girls Scouts’ website at girlscoutsnca.org and go to the volunteer page. There you can find more information about different opportunities and a printable application. No previous Girl Scout experience is necessary.

You can also obtain more information by calling Shawana Ariel at 256-883-1020 ext. 1232 or e-mailing her at sariel@girlscoutsnca.org.
