Matthew Dahl; May 28, 2011

Matthew John Dahl, 6, of Madison died near his home due to injuries suffered in a vehicle accident while on his bike.

He attended Legacy Elementary School, recently completing Mrs. Dodd’s kindergarten class. He loved to play all kinds of sports, especially basketball, baseball and soccer. Enjoying time with his many friends playing with Legos, swimming, fishing and boating with his cousins filled Matt’s life with fun and excitement. Matt was given all opportunities to live life to the fullest and was a good little brother. He was a lovable, polite and pleasant little guy.

He is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Marge Dahl; brother, Ryan; sister, Lise; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Kathy Dahl of Northwood, Iowa; maternal grandmother, Terese Moraski of Hoyt Lakes, Minn.; aunts, Lizette Moscatelli and husband Gari of Forest Lake, Minn., Jane Matson and husband Peter, Madeliena, Malta and Jean Ann Hastings and husband Michael of Omaha, Neb.; cousins, Tia and Tess Moscatelli, Jack, Nicholas and Isabella Matson and Hannah and Hudson Hastings; and his numerous good friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack Moraski, and cousin, Tate Moscatelli.

Visitation was on Wednesday, June 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home, Huntsville. We will rejoice Matt’s short life and celebrate the special place he has forever in our hearts. Mass of the Resurrection was on Thursday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madison. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” One of God’s own has gone home to him. He was an angel from God on loan to us for six years.

A memorial fund in Matt’s name has been established at Legacy Elementary School and can be sent to the school at 165 Pine Grove Road, Madison, AL 35757.
