Beautification board will give awards this Thursday

The awards luncheon will be held at the Holiday Inn of Madison.

The Madison Beautification and Tree Board will hold its annual beautification awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 30 at the Holiday Inn of Madison.

The Beautification Awards program recognizes commercial, business or public property within the city limits of Madison who, through landscaping efforts, help make Madison a more inviting and beautiful place to live and work.

At the luncheon, the Board will recognize and honor the winners of the beautification award.  The winners of the Excellent

Award will also be announced. This award is given annually to those properties that have received a perfect score of 100 percent.  Also awarded during the luncheon will be the coveted ‘Knock Out’ Rose Award, which is given to the one property judged to have the most outstanding use of the ‘Knock Out” rose in their landscaping.

According to Liz Cuneo, president of the Board, there were 75 nominations received.  Sixty-four of the properties won and there were 10 nominated properties that were first time recipients.

Cuneo says the number of properties who applied this year and pleased encourages her with the number of winners-who had to undergo a rigorous judging process.  She looks forward to more properties being nominated next year and an even larger awards luncheon.
