Evelyn Hollis; Sept. 3, 2011

Evelyn Joyce Humphries Hollis, 70, of Madison passed away Saturday, Sept. 3 at Huntsville Hospital.

Mrs. Hollis was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church in Corner and was a retired radio operator for Trans Ocean Offshore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Jessie Humphries; and her brother, Donald Humphries.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Hollis of Madison; daughter, Kenda Thomas of Chelsea; grandchildren, Lauren, Monet and Skyler Thomas; several nieces, nephews and other family members; and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at New Horizon Memorial Chapel in Dora. The Rev. Steve Knox officiated. Burial followed in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the funeral home.
