Janis Handback; Sept. 14, 2011

Janis Momyer Handback of Madison passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Huntsville Hospital.

She was born Janis Sue Momyer on July 18, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Handback married Steve on August 11, 1978, in Roswell, N.M. In 1987, they moved to Santa Fe, N.M., where Janis was a homemaker during their daughter’s school years. For the past eight years, she assisted her husband with their home inspection business in Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Gwen Momyer; father-in-law, Hank Handback; brother-in-law, Earl Handback; and sister-in-law, Denise Handback Romano.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Steve Handback; two daughters, Lindsay Baca and husband Adam of Santa Fe and Megan Handback of Huntsville; sister, DeAnn Bowman and husband Jeff of Artesia, N.M.; mother-in-law, Sylvia Handback of Harvest; and two sisters-in-law, Gina Thompson and husband Jim of Madison and Theresa Stanfield and husband Bert of Cummings, Ga.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorial services was Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with Valhalla Funeral Home in charge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation .
