Green beans arrive Saturday

The 20,000-pound Green Bean Drop will arrive on Aug. 25 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 980 Hughes Road.

The Tennessee grower will deliver 20,000 pounds of green beans.

“Forecast is sunny with an abundance of green beans. It is looking like a great day to bag some beans and feed the hungry,” Mary Lynn Botts said. Botts is the North Alabama gleaning coordinator with the sponsoring agency, Society of St. Andrew.

Volunteers will work from 8 a.m. to noon. Non-profit agencies will pick up allotments of green beans from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

For information, call 256-658-7555 or send email to gleannorthal@endhunger.org.
