Rep. Mo Brooks co-sponsors bill to stop sequestration

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) has co-sponsored a bill in Washington today to stop sequestration.

“I am cosponsoring this bill to end the sequester, as I have previous bills to help protect our national defense,” Brooks said in a press release. “Because the White House and Senate persist in being Absent Without Leave, the Senate has never even voted on any legislation that ends or reduces the impact of sequestration. H.R. 607 replaces sequestration with a delay in the implementation of ‘ObamaCare,’ thereby saving taxpayers $130 billion that can be shifted to restore defense and other program cuts.”

Brooks continued.

“For nearly two years, I have fought against sequestration and the hollowing out of our Armed Forces,” Brooks said. “No Alabama Congressman has done more to stop or prevent sequestration and its attack on national defense funding. I will continue to stand strong until the sequester is reversed and America’s national defense is secured.”

Sequestration is on track to take effect on Friday, March 1.
