MADISON — The Madison Police Department will host the 3rd Annual Madison Charity Carnival May 14-18.

Proceeds from the event will benifit the Madison Police Foundation which assists injured and fallen officers’ families along with providing assistance for insurance. It is run as a non-profit organization.

“The actual event is  put on by Kissell Entertainment,” Foundation president Officer Patrick Hamilton said. “There will be rides, games, conssensions, a ferris wheel and much more.”

Officers will provide security, work booths and make up the entire staff.

“My favorite part of event is having our officers out there interacting with the community,” Hamilton said. “That is something we are always aiming to do, building better relationships with the community.”

The event is in the Madison Village Shopping Center and will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. The 9067 Madison Blvd. property was secured and will take place in the parking lot of the future Sci-Quest location. Admission is $2 excluding rides.

“This is my first year on the committee so I am not sure about what we expect as far as numbers go,” Hamilton said. “But we are excited to put on this event and hope the community comes out, if only to just interact.”

Donations can be made year-round to the Madison Police Foundation. For more information, call Officer Patrick Hamilton at (256) 772-5689 or Sharron Monk at (256) 772-5675.
