MADISON – The track team from Bob Jones High School competed with more than 50 schools at the 2013 Indoor Track Holiday Invitational.

Assembling teams from all areas in Alabama and Mississippi, the track meet was held at the CrossPlex in Birmingham on Dec. 14.

“Our girls’ team finished fourth and, in the process, broke two school indoor records,” Jim Presnell said. Presnell is the head coach for track and cross country at Bob Jones. “I was very pleased with our performance.”

Moriah Lorge won the pole vault competition in first place at 11 feet, 3 inches with a record jump for both Bob Jones and the invitational meet.

“Emika Miyamoto, an eighth-grader at Discovery Middle School, finished fourth out of about 50 teams in the 60-meter hurdles and set a new record for Bob Jones with 10:11,” Presnell said.

“Our girls’ distance picked up where they left off in their fourth-place finish at the state in cross country,” Presnell said. “We had five girls who ran under 13:00 in the 3,200-meter run led by Lillie Robinson in third place at 12:12.”

Morne Le Roux placed fourth in the 3,200-meter at 12:19. Other team stats are Lindsey Martin in seventh place at 12:35, Neda Mobasher with 12:46 and Aspen Robinson at 12:57.

“Our girls’ 3,200 relay finished in sixth place. Members of that relay were Lillie Robinson, Morne Le Roux, Morgan Price and Lindsey Martin,” Presnell said. “Anna Gierow was the other score for the girls’ team by finishing eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in her first race ever.”

Peyton Tyler led the boys’ team and finished sixth in the 1,600-meter run at 4:42 and the 3,200-meter run at 10:31. Brandon Alexander finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.05.

“We had a lot of young kids that ran very well, and our boys’ team will get better when the football players join us,” Presnell said.
