Calhoun students from Madison earn SkillsUSA honors

MADISON – Several Madison students representing Calhoun Community College earned awards at the Alabama SkillsUSA Leadership conference in Birmingham.

Nick Cordier was first-place winner in computer maintenance. Also taking first place, Jacob Rippy competed in cosmetology and Lena Sledge in TV/video production.

Hunter Partridge took second place in precision machining.

These students qualified to compete at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo. on June 23-28.

Formerly known as VICA, SkillsUSA is a national non-profit organization devoted to preparing students for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations. The organization serves more than 300,000 high school, college and professional members. Alabama currently has about 9,000 members.
