Marshall Ray Derting July 7, 1938 – November 17, 2014

Marshall Ray Derting, 76, of Madison passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at his home. Ray was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and was a member of College Park Church of God. He was a self-employed paint contractor and worked on many of the historic homes in Huntsville and Madison. Ray was dearly loved by his family and many friends and also loved his family and friends dearly. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Rhoda Derting and Millie Anderson; two brothers: Garland Derting and Roy Derting and a beloved uncle: James McElyea. Survivors include his daughter: Michelle Derting Cross and husband: Jeffery; two sisters: Wanda Griggs and Monie Roberts and husband: Hurlis; three step- daughters: Sandra Cepeda, Peluza Cepeda and Claudia Cepeda and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by a memorial Chapel service at 6:00 p.m. with Bro. Paul Lombard officiating. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
