Overcash assists historical society

MADISON – Madison City Council President Tommy Overcash has helped Madison Station Historical Preservation Society to prepare for one of its major community events.
Tommy Overcash and his wife Debbie Overcash secured storage space needed for the historical society’s costumes that Street Singers will wear during the Madison Christmas Magic Homes Tour.
The society “is extremely appreciative of Tommy and Debbie Overcash’s generous efforts in securing storage for these costumes,” Street Singer co-chairperson Lisa Patrick said. “Our appreciation also goes to Kay’s Cleaners for pressing over 95 of the costume pieces.”
“We are encouraged by such helpfulness from the community as we move toward Dec. 5 for the ‘Madison Christmas Magic Homes Tour’ where the Street Singers will complement the lovely homes on tour,” Patrick said.
Overcash reserved a storage room for the costumes at the former fire station on Sullivan Street, now used as a gym for the city’s police officers and fire fighters.
Overcash presented the key to the Sullivan Street site to Patrick and hat designer Sharon Dinkle. Dinkle, affiliated with Madison Station Antiques, will store about 30 Edwardian-style hats for use during the Christmas tour.

The Madison Station Historical Preservation Society continues its mission to preserve the community’s history and to conduct projects to that end. Any resident can join the historical society, and individuals are not required to live in the historic district to join.
