McCarter earns Bronze Star twice

MADISON – Chief Warrant Officer 5 Timothy McCarter began his U.S. Army service began with the delayed-entry program at Dothan High School in 1985. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonardwood, Mo.

As an Army Reservist, he was assigned to 851st Supply & Support Company in Abbeville. In 1989, he moved to California and became active duty, serving in units across the country and in Germany and Korea.

In 1997, he became a Warrant Officer, subsequently working as Supply Support Activity (SSA) Accountable Officer, Mannheim, Germany; Division Materiel Manager, Fort Stewart, Ga.; foreign military advisor, Mosul, Iraq; and at Fort Rucker, Alabama.

In addition, McCarter served combat tours in Iraq in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and in 2008 with a Military Transition Team in Mosul.

The McCarters moved to Madison in 2012 with his job as Deputy Director at Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA). “We affect the positioning of over $3 billion in Army supply inventory as part of … LOGSA divisions that support the Warfighters,” he said.

“We had never been to Huntsville prior to the assignment but heard nothing but good things.” He plans to retire in 2016.

He holds bachelor and master’s degrees in business administration from Touro University and Trident University, respectively, in California.

His wife, Major Crystal McCarter, is a mobilized Reservist at Headquarters Army Materiel Command (HQAMC). Their children are Sharice, 22, Private First Class in Kuwait; Timothy Jr., 18; Haley, 4, and “one on the way in February 2016.”

Among his honors, McCarter received two Bronze Star Medals, Operation Iraqi Freedom; Distinguished Order of Saint Martin Medal; Association of Quartermasters; and Meritorious Service Medal.

He is a lifetime member of U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association (USAWOA) and Association of Quartermasters (AQM). He is board president for Rainbow Landing Homeowners Association and past president of warrant officers.

“Genealogy and military history are my driving passions. I create family history documentary videos,” McCarter said. He enjoys biking, motorcycling, writing and collects antiquarian books, magazines and superhero comics.

His writing has been included in numerous publications, including “Army Logistician Magazine” and “Tiefort Telegraph” newspaper.
