MADISON – Dubbed “Conquer Eastview Hill,” the 2016 Madison City 10K/5K race will be held June 11.

Registration for the race is open until June 6. The race’s name references Eastview Drive, known for its steep incline that challenges runners.

“These races are perfect for any level runner,” Gayle Milam said. Milam works as the city’s event and volunteer coordinator. “The courses are fun and challenging.”

The 10K race will begin at 8 a. m. Start time for the 5K race will be 8:15 a.m. An awards ceremony will be conducted at 9:30 a.m.

All runners will receive a T-shirt with registration. Officials will present awards in numerous categories.

USA Track & Field (USATF) has certified both the 10K and 5K routes. Both races will start and end at the entrance to Dublin Park.

From Dublin, the 5K route will proceed east on Old Madison Pike, north on Crestview Drive, north on Briarwood Drive, west on Steele Drive, north on Athens Boulevard, west on Eastview Drive, south on Hughes Road, east on Old Madison Pike and return to Dublin Park.

The 10K route follows the directions of the 5K but also will turn west on Old Madison Pike, south on Sullivan Street, east on Front Street, north on Church Street, east on Mill Road/Portal Lane, north on Stavemill Drive, north on Cambridge Drive, east on Old Madison Pike and return to Dublin Park.

Participants can register in person by visiting Dublin Park, 8324 Old Madison Pike or the City Clerk’s office in Madison City Hall, 100 Hughes Road. To register online, visit www.madisonal.gov/mcr.

Packet pick-up is scheduled for June 10 at Dublin Park gymnasium from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“If you miss the race registration deadline of June 6, there will be race registration at packet pickup with a $50 entry fee,” Milam said. “No registration will be available on race day.”
