MADISON – Patriotism will take center stage at the “Celebrate America” concert of June 25.

The musical extravaganza will feature the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) Concert Band from Redstone Arsenal and a 100-voice choir from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Concert times will be at 5 and 7 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1804 Sparkman Drive NW in Huntsville. The concerts are free and open to the public.

Both concerts will have limited walk-in seating, so organizers recommend reservations, which are available at wecelebrateameria.org.

“This patriotic concert bridges from Memorial Day to July 4th by commemorating in song and narrative the freedom we enjoy and our special heritage as a country,” publicist Peggy Sue Unander said. “Started three years ago as a gift to the community, this successful collaboration enjoys large audiences every year.”

The choir includes members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints representing 15 congregations in north central and northeast Alabama, including Madison and Huntsville. “Choir members voluntarily give of their time and talents to share their love of God and country through music,” publicist Reed Carpenter said.

Local civic and military leaders will narrate the concert. These officials include Madison Mayor Troy Trulock, State Rep. Mike Ball, retired U.S. Army colonels Bill Marks and John Olshefski, Manna House Director Fran Fuller, Dr. Jennie Robinson with Huntsville City Council and Sarah Savage, President/CEO of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County.

The AMC Band serves soldiers and civilians stationed at more than 140 locations worldwide. The band and its music performance teams travel extensively throughout the country and overseas supporting 30 installations, 26 major tenants, seven Army Field Support Brigades, 10 subordinate commands and four separate reporting activities within the AMC enterprise.

Since November 2003, the band has deployed to support troops and civilians deployed in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. The AMC band has performed in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Afghanistan and United Arab Emirates.
