Madison’s municipal election for mayor and City Council will be held on Aug. 23. CONTRIBUTED

MADISON – Where do I go to vote in the city election? And what date is the election? When do the polls close?

Melanie Williard, City Clerk-Treasurer for Madison, already has answered all these questions and more.

The municipal election for Madison’s mayor and seven council members in Madison City Council will be held Aug. 23. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and remain open continuously to vote until 7 p.m.

The polling or voting places in Madison include the following locations:

* Council District 1 — Faith Lutheran Church, 660 Gillespie Road.

* Council District 2 — District 2 residents who live in Madison County will vote at Madison Baptist Church, 840 Balch Road. District 2 residents who live in Limestone County will vote at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 11716 County Line Road.

* Council District 3 — Madison Mission Seventh-day Adventist Church, 183 Shelton Road.

* Council District 4 — District 4 residents who live in Madison County will vote at Madison City Hall, 100 Hughes Road. District 4 residents who live in Limestone County will vote at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 11716 County Line Road.

* Council District 5 — St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1057 Hughes Road.

* Council District 6 — Madison Church of Christ, 556 Hughes Road.

* Council District 7 — Restoration Church, 5810 Wall Triana.

If necessary, a run-off election will be held on Oct. 4.

In addition, the notice states that “all registered and qualified electors of the state, who reside within the corporate limits of Madison, Alabama, and have resided therein for a period of 30 days or more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote in the county precinct which embraces and covers that part of the corporate limits of Madison, Alabama in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in the election.”
