MADISON – From all his extracurricular activities, Chase Goodwin’s favorite sport is baseball because he likes of the sport’s challenge to hit and catch.

“Chase really enjoys trying to hit a homerun at every bat and sliding home,” his mother Sherri Goodwin said. Chase played baseball with the Indians as a first baseman. He also made the Allstar team and played center field. Madison Mad Sox won first place in the Constellation bracket at the World Series.

In basketball, he played center with the Kings, who won the championship game for 7U teams. In flag football, he played wide receiver and quarterback with Upwards.

Chase is a third-grader at Columbia Elementary School. Last year, he participated in Drama Club and performed in “The Wizard of Oz.”

Cartez and Sherri Goodwin are Chase’s parents. Cartez works for Dekalb County Schools in Georgia. Sherri works for Huntsville City Schools. “Chase has one adult sibling who lives in Mississippi. Chase already is an uncle to a beautiful little girl,” Sherri said.

“Our family moved to Madison four years ago,” Chase said. “We moved from Georgia to be closer to my granddad who was diagnosed with a terminal illness.”
