MADISON – Many miles from his hometown of Porcupine, Ontario, Canada, Glenn Detulleo and his family moved to Madison in September 2010 when he signed to play for Huntsville Havoc Hockey team.
Glenn now is Head Coach of Huntsville Havoc, members of Southern Professional Hockey League.
“Since we arrived to Madison, we’ve loved it. The people we met accepted us with open arms from Day 1,” Glenn said. “I love how the community rallies around each other. It has everything you need but still has a smaller town feel. “
Madison elementary, his children’s school, reminds him of his childhood classrooms. “The teachers and staff at Madison elementary are amazing! We couldn’t ask for a better place to raise our kids,” Glenn said. “Our neighborhood is friendly and a safe place for our kids to grow up.”
He and wife Jen Fouts-Detulleo, owner of JFD Photography & Design, lived in 10 different cities before arriving in Madison. “Some places we liked more than others. But, in my opinion, what makes this place special is how genuine the people have been. It truly feels like a community that cares,” Glenn said.
Glenn and Jen are parents of Ebba, 10, Berlin, 9, and Benham, 5.
Glenn was born in Timmins, Ontario, Canada and grew up in the nearby town of Porcupine. He attended a French-speaking high school, Ecole Secondaire Theriault. He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science.
With the Havoc organization, Glenn and his team help several charities, such as the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Still Serving Veterans, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and others.
Louie, the family’s 13-year-old ‘Schnoodle’ (schnauzer/poodle mix), has lived with them in Europe, Canada and across the United States.
“I enjoy most types of music. I like bands such as Pearl Jam, Green Day, Zac Brown Band and old-school hip-hop,” Glenn said.
When dining out, the Detulleos enjoy going to Old Black Bear, La Placita and Chuck Wagon BBQ.
