HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, in conjunction with Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild and Science Applications International Corporation, will present the annual Young People’s Concert series on Feb. 2-3.
Approximately 6,000 fourth-graders from the area will experience a true symphonic concert just for them at no cost.
The symphony’s Young People’s Concerts lead up to the annual free Family Concert on Feb. 4 in the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall of the Von Braun Center. Following free activities for families at 9:30 a.m., the concert will start at 11 a.m.
This year, the Family Concert theme will be “Compose Yourself,” an interactive guide to the orchestra. The concert will introduce children of all ages to the instruments of the orchestra. The audience and musicians will create a piece of music that has never been performed before.
Pre-concert activities will include an instrument petting zoo, musical chairs, face painting, coloring and more.
Sponsors are Damson Automotive Group and Painted Violin Society, along with SAIC as production sponsor.
